Furnace lining protocol

Preparation, compaction and sintering guidance for lining life. Confirm the settings for your furnace and grade with our application team.

Preparation & compaction

  • Compact pneumatically in one slow bottom-to-top pass; avoid repeated up/down movement that separates grains. Maintain air pressure, seals and stroke springs.
  • Provide 3–4 mm former holes at 150 mm centres for moisture release.
  • Use clean, dense scrap; avoid low-grade, fine or high-silica sponge iron.
  • Inspect coil coat and pads; the published replacement preference is every three months.

Record temperature and lining performance heat by heat. The source favours boron oxide premix for lining life.

Confirm the source’s unclear compaction-duration wording and opening-carbon units with our team. Any cooling-fan changes during the initial sintering period also require furnace-specific review.
